What is this part
http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9f3be314.jpg
I was removing my starter to install a fumoto valve for draining my block and this part fell down. Does anyone know what it is? Does it go on the starter somehow. I cannot figure out where it goes. Thanks Randy |
Kerrapp, that is easy...
It's the main bushing off the Fratostat. Heck everyone knows that }> |
Looks like a head or trans dowel.

If that is small enough and that is a early 04 that could also be the spacer for a turbo bolt.
|
Check the AC lines from the condenser , even to the heater core box, I'll see if I can get a pic.

I apologize Randy, I actually did not see any text below your picture when I 1st saw your post -- I thought you were yanking everyone's chain... :o
|
Looks like a head dowl as stated prior

The only problem with all of our suggestions [includeing mine] they should be shiny.
Closer inspection it looks more like a black fiber or plastic. Stabalizer bushing maybe? A size reference would have helped, a quarter or bottle cap something. |
Not if its covered in soot
|
That is true. Wonder how long that had been rattleing around before it fell off.

Sorry guys just noticed the last post was for a gasser
Cylinder Head Alignment Dowel Adaper Kit (18/20mm) - Ford 6.0L Powerstroke - Enterprise Engine this has a tapperd the end, the pic does not unless I'm missing something |
If it large and plasric it maybe a solenoid cover for the starter, they did have some in the aftermarket.
Beyond that I got nothing. |
The part is metal. Large enough to go around your pinkie finger but will not fit around any other finger. 3/4 of an inch long. The heads were off this truck in the past for arp studs if that helps. I'm just hoping it fell down from earlier work and does not go to the starter.
