Need advice on check engine light
'04 FX4 5.4
Backfired when I was starting it yesterday and shortly after the engine light came on..Not sure of the number of the codes, but 2 are "lean bank 1&2 MAF sensor" and the other 2 are for "lean bank 1&2 O2 sensor" Im thinking the backfire clogged the MAF sensor. I tried to clean it with brake clean but it didnt seem to help. Wondering if I should spend the $125 on a new MAF sensor in hopes thats the problem..or is there a better way to narrow it down? Thanks in advance for any input |

You should now that you used brake clean on it. Use only MAF sensor cleaner on the MAF sensor.

You take your chances, but brake cleaner can damage some of the insulating materials used in electronics. They make MAF cleaner specifically for that component.
