Buying decision help: EDGE vs. ESCAPE?

... Guys, in my country both the 2014 Edge SE and Escape SE cost about the same... I was originally inclined to buy an Escape but I've been reading reviews and thus leaning towards the Edge... Which one should I choose and why?... we are a familiy of four and usually haul a lot of stuff... thanks in advance...:-X22

Cost aside, the Edge will have more interior volume, tho the difference isn't huge... Before my Edge, I had a 2004 Saturn Vue- which was MUCH roomier inside (despite being nearly identical in size), compared to the Edge. The door panels are thicker, the seats are more heavily padded, and then there's the center console- which takes up quite a bit of space. The Edge DOES have a very quiet, comfortable ride. The Escape will be more maneuverable and get better mileage, if that's a concern. The option list for both is pretty similar... at least it is here. Neither would be very good at serious off-roading, if you ask me...

Both the Escape and Edge are unibody construction. The 1st generation Escape was based on a modified Mazda 626 platform while the Edge is based on an older modified Mazda 6 platform.

Learn something new everyday,I believed my escape was body on frame.

Wonderful thing this internet. The Escape is anything but body on frame but I can attest that they are pretty solid since my wife took out a utility pole at 45 mph and only had minor injuries that didn't require medical care.

None of the small/medium SUVs are body on frame anymore, there are a few exceptions but for the most part they are all unibody.
