Try using the "Mileage Master" MSD kit by Jacobs Electronics. I have on my 4.2L the following: Helix power tower, Mileage Master MSD kit & a 4:10 rear-end diff.

This is what I got....

AEP-JBA Heavy 14 Gauge Titanium Ceramic Coated Steel Header
JET Power Module
GIBSON Dual Extreme Split Side Exit Aluminized Steel Cat Back Exhaust System With Stainless Tips
VOLANT High-Flow Intake
Poweraid- Throttle Body Spacer
Also have sound system etc. but, before I lose my train of thought, I still get 18mpg on the street. Not too shabby if you ask me.

I roll in the 2000 4.2L Ext. Cab XLT.

How much time, money and trouble was it to make these mods?

I got all the parts for 1200 and some change. I found it at a performance site. We installed the chip and intake in about 1.5 hours, the exhaust in 2 or so (couldnt find another stand for 45 minutes) maybe 30 minutes on the spacer. The headers are hard to tell, because we were installing a Belltech 3/4 drop at the same time. The headers were most definately the worst, and hardest part. I had no idea that attaching the o2 sensor and egr and the right side (if facing the steering wheel) would be damn near impossible. Other things like a front valance with fog lights took all but 20 minutes.

Good luck

we are still on the painting process horizon, but soon right after the show we have here in manila i will send you some pics. and also do you know where to have tires and wheels shipped at a low cost? And does financing wheels or tires in the us is cheap or is it also high due to charges? i have a sponsored wheel from KMC and i still have to get some tires. the lowest i got is from discount tire which is $289 for the 305/40/22 do you know a store that sells lower than this? but it is free shipping within the us. but the thing is the shipping to the Philippines. do you know a cheap shipper? thanks and god bless....

Thats something I would have to check on. :-tap I know there are several internet wheel and tire dealers. I worked at Mail Boxes Etc.,back when it still was MBE, and shipping internationally was darn expensive. So all I can say is, good luck, and Ill try and hook you up.

pcdocta.....did you see any response issues with the Helix Power Tower. I was considering one and a guy in another forum indicated he had response issues after installing the tower.

Would the Volant system fit on a 4.2L? On the website it says that you can get the kit with the cool air box for the 4.6 and 5.4's, but not the 4.2's. They offer the kit without the box for the 4.2's. Would the one with the box fit on the 4.2's? Does the cool air box actually make an impact?

From what I understand the box is just a box. Because you are drawing in "engine air" it doesn't matter. I like the whistle it makes. Heh.

So your saying you got the one without the box? Basically there isn't a difference. :)

Thanks

Also, about the 4.6 intake, I am almost positive the tube isn't the same as the 4.2. I could be wrong, but I think thats why it isn't universal. There might be a spacing issue with the 4.6 model.

Horizon.......did you put your modifications on individually? I was wondering if you saw any performance issues or if you could attribute any mileage increases to the poweraid throttle body spacer. I am considering one but want to see if it really does help.
