Fan for my 52 F5

Can anyone help me ID a fan for my 52 F5 8RT engine? I have an alternator with fan mount on water pump. I can't find which one or even something close. I'm not even sure what came stock on it. I'm pretty sure it was a four bladed fan. However, I have had no luck finding one. It looks like I might just have to do trial and error retro fitting. I can't live with the electric one that is on it now. It vibrates more than the engine.

I don't quite understand what setup you currently have. The flathead V8 (8RT) did not have a generator or water pump mounted fan. The six cylinder had a water pump mounted fan.

The fan setup for your F-5 should look like this (with either a 4 blade or 6 blade fan):

My mistake oops, but lots of confusion

You are absolutely correct, sir. However, I can't find any aftermarket sources for the four bladed fan.

I would think if the electric fan vibrates it has lost a blade or balancing weight. Usually, electric fans are quiet and pretty much vibration free.

The parts book actually calls for a 5 blade (18.5" dia) part# B7Q8600C. The parts book shows ONLY 5 blade fans for all trucks 1948-56, so I wonder if the 4 blade was supposed to be on the passenger cars.

38 Coupe, I see you changed the pic you posted, where was that one from, as it indicated the fan part # to be 8602?

Anyhow, Part #B7Q8600c

I think maybe the V8s are all 5 blade. My I6 is a 4 blade.

I was searching through photobucket for good picture that someone else had already made available. The earlier picture is actually a 1949 car engine, but the fans are similar. I updated it when I found a picture of a truck engine.

Here is the earlier picture:

The only 5 blade fan I have seen on a flathead was on a 53 truck motor and was definitely a one year only assembly.

Here's what the parts book list.... I found Van Pelts list 8602 as a fan/hub combination

This is what I'm saying

You can do a parts number search for it all day long and not get anything close. My local parts stores are worthless. Anybody have a Part #B7Q8600c
18.5" diameter 5 blade fan for a 1952 8RT flathead V8? Used condition would be fine. I have to ditch the electric fan!:'(:'(

ALBUQ F-1 04-15-2014 08:01 PM

So are you missing the whole assembly, including the hub and mounting bracket?

Joshua Farm 04-15-2014 11:22 PM

Just the fan

All I need is the fan. Anybody know where I can get one?

ALBUQ F-1 04-15-2014 11:43 PM

What was wrong with these (below)?

Fan search

I called all listed sites and no one had one on the shelf. I bought the 5 blade aluminum one and pray that it will work.
