oil pressure and coolant temp sensor mounting
I posted this in the van forums but no response in a week.
I have a 95 E350 with a 7.5 (460). I bought a pillar pod and some extra guages, but want to keep the OEM dummy gauges in the dash working too. I have a triple pod and trans temp, oil pressure, and water temp. trans temp is figured out and will be wired tomorrow, no problem there. Where can I tap in for coolant temp if I want to keep the stock sensor working too? The guage I bought has a 8 or so feet of sensor coil and a screw in sensor with different fittings. I'm not even sure if it will reach to the block easily or if I can add to it, but where can I tap in? Also, I looked up where the factory oil pressure sensor should be (under the front of the block near the oil filter) but I cannot find mine there. I have not removed the oil filter or any coolant hoses and don't want to have to. I can T off this sensor for my oil pressure guage once I find it, if I understand this correctly. Thanks |

Any chance that is still the location? |
I'll have to pull the doghouse and look I guess, but I with I knew exactly what I was looking for. I know what a sender should look like in general but not completely sure what this one will look like.

I put a pipe tee in for the temp senders but I thing moving the senders out of the "stream" of coolant in the intake made for a cooler reading on both the factory and the aftermarket gauge. I installed a short hose to move the oil pressure sender out to a location easier to install a tee in it. Put the oem sender in one side and the aftermarket in the other and it works fine.
Still working on a solution for the temp sender! |

Back of the engine, up top sort of on passenger side. A real bear to get to!

Did you come up with any idea on where to locate the temp sender?

Thanks for the links. I think I will screw a 3/8" tee into the gauge sender location and add the new gauge sender and see how that goes. If the factory gauge reads as it did before (whatever that's worth) It should mean that the location is OK.
