navigation radio
I have this navigation radio. But I'm having trouble with it. When I installed it it would power up and then turn off. Also upon installing it and powering it up my dash lights blew. I like this radio but I'm not sure it will work. Any suggestions?
Thanks BTW I have a 2007 F150. http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1e17e796.jpg |
That looks like the factory nav system right? Have you tried adding a heavier fuse? That takes alot more power than a normal one. You dont want it ill be glad to take it of your hands! Hahaa :D

Lol by adding a heavier fuse would I risk damaging anything?

Have you tried reinstalling it? Something might not have been hooked up right. Id do that then try a heavier fuse

The good thing about the install is that there is only two plugs that can go in the back of the radio. So the install isn't too bad. I just don't want to reinstall a new fuse before I can come up with a solution.

Don't install a bigger fuse all you will end up doing is melt your wiring.might have a short somewhere, can you take the radio to someone and have them bench test it for you?
|
Test for continuity and resistance on the 12v rail. Also, the suggestion for adding a slightly larger fuse isn't a terrible idea, but check to see what the current amperage on the blown fuse it. It might need a 10A fuse instead of a 5 to run properly

when I installed my factory Nav system I didn't need to change any fuses it was plug and play
