1969 F100 meets Police Interceptor (Thats the plan anyways....)

Hi All,

So i have purchsed a very nice 69 F100 SWB from the US and am planning on swapping the entire drivetrain and suspension (minus the rear axle, staying with the 9" and leafs) from a 2011 Crown Vic Interceptor with 63000km's on it. I may stay with the original 302 still but not sold on that yet. Heres what Im starting with...

Pulled the front clip off...

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9516ed13.jpg

pulled the engine and tranny...

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps56aca0a2.jpg

removed the box....

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...psc7db769d.jpg

Lowered the rear end with a front shackle mount flip....

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps32d4a925.jpg

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps190a7c1e.jpg

Removed the front coils and set the ride height. Ready to start measuring and cutting out the original x-member to make room for the CV front end.

You might check out some other build threads where they attacked the evil rust Demon. :-X04 Use the search engine top of this page. I think it is 67nuke that really dove head 1st in to his.

JEFFFAFA 04-04-2014 07:05 PM

It is out of my league to know if it's necessarybut, you gonna box in the frame? Seems like I've seen other threads and they did. I am assuming for dipping in to corners hot and heavy?

RustyTub 04-04-2014 11:30 PM

I have always been of the mind set that the factory Steel cross members were ok with out a boxed frame because it could handle the twisting motion. But now with the Crown vics aluminum crossmember that was meant for a unibody style carwhich has alot less flex stiffening up the frame would be crucial so that the aluminum crossmember would not have to take as much twist.
