Telescoping steering wheel

Hey Fellas,
I have a question for you guys. Owned my truck since 12/28/2013, without telescoping steering wheel. I'm 5'10" and 190lbs, not a big guy by any means. I've never really been comfortable with the drivers seat position with the steering wheel and adjustable pedals. I figured(it was me) and it would take me a while to find a comfortable driving position. When I move the seat close enough to the steering wheel for comfort for my arm position, my knees hit the dash. :-banghead So I move the tilt wheel all the up and drop the seat all the way down, which is uncomfortable for me. Guess I'm old and crabby. :-X15

Anyone else experience this issue?

Wondering if the dealer would even be able to ADD telescoping wheel and how much the dealer would charge? Arm... leg...

Let me know your thoughts. Adios.

Best I can tell, column shifter and telescoping wheel are mutually exclusive. I have a similar but different concern - I would like to buy an FX4 next time around (which is telescoping), but I need a column shift rather than a floor shift.

To convert yours, you would have to totally replace the steering column, and add the floor console with shifter. Expect several thousand dollars, if you can find anyone willing to do it.

Failing that, your only other viable option would be to trade the truck in on a variant that has the telescoping wheel (FX2/FX4, Platinum, KR... maybe some Lariats).

I also thought the seating was created for a monkey and not a man. Eventually I did get used to it. It helps to have a very upright seating position.

would likely be cheaper an safer to trade the truck if you really want this option, rather than having someone monkey with your steering column, and take a can opener to the floor to install a stick shift! My Lariat has it; not sure if it is a Lariat standard, or option. Good luck shopping.
