Did Ford make a 4 cyl in the 50s or 60s?

Did Ford make the 4 cyl in the USA for the Ford courier(sp?)?

Are the 4 cyl engines of Ford design or are they import designs or manufactured?

Thanks
Greg

Yes, Ford had 4 bangers in the 50's and 60's,
it's still being produced today, it's a cam-in-block
4...called the Kent, there are 2 different Kent
engines though, one kinda like the 170 ci I6,
intake and exhaust ports on the same side of the
head, and the crossflow.

The original Courier pickup was a rebadged Mazda,
with a 1.6L SOHC, The Ford built version had a "Lima"
2.3L SOHC, which is a semi copy of the "Pinto" 2L,EOA,
which is an Euro Ford design dating back to the late 60's
