54 f100 460 headers
My 54 has a 06 crown vic independant front with a 460. Im looking at the sanderson ff461 headers, but the dimension show they are 4" from the head to the out side of the tube. I have only 3.5" between the head and steering rod, does anyone have any advise ?

Move the steering rod by adding a third UJ and a support bearing? Custom headers? Patriot Tight tuck headers?
|
thanks for the info I`ll do some research on moving the steering rod

Moving the steering rod would be cheapest. You would usually set up the steering rod after you have the headers on anyway.

You may want to look at ff463 header it has a little different design. I'm having the same problem and will try this header when I get further along.

Got the headers on , used a support bearing and three u joints worked great thanks guys

Any chance of a few photos! I'd be interested, as I suspect I'll need to do something very similar for my 460.
Thanks. |
Different year truck but i would imagine same idea. This is what i did with mine.

You might want to give FPA a call. They build custom headers for your application. I had them build a set for me when I installed a 466 in the Mustang, they fit like a glove. Might be worth a call.
