Did all 91 extended cabs come with rear speakers?

I just got a 91 F250 extended cab XLT Lariat. I was looking through the truck and cannot find the speakers in the rear part of the truck. Did 91 come with rear speakers? If so what size?
I remember our 93 F250 extended cab XLT having them but not sure on 91s.

I don't have them in mine, but i think some did. Either way, there should be someplace below the rear side windows to bolt them. You will just have to cut a hole in the plastics and use the provided speaker grills. Then run some speaker wire and you're good to go.

Ford liked using the 5 or 6x8 speakers back there but you can make a 6x9 fit with a little finageling (and an little sheetmetal trimming).

Ya that's what I may have to do if we get speakers in the back. Thanks just wasn't sure on them.

I would use the trim with the factory holes in them

Redneckfordf2502002 02-25-2014 08:25 PM

I could but I have to make custom speaker grilles over the current door speakers anyways so I could just cut it and have it matching.
One more question stock how high is the seat up (from the bottom seat on top up) to the roof of the cab? I am 5'7" or 5'8" and when wearing my cowboy hat I hit my head on the roof where as the 93 F250 I had before I didn't so I thought maybe it was raised.

That would work well too, and it would hide those new expensive speakers from the prying eyes of would be thrives...

EXACTLY. No one looks twice at stock stuff

Redneckfordf2502002 02-25-2014 08:41 PM

Ya that is one thing to consider also although that isn't my biggest worry.

On my old Ranger I had a "protected by Smith and Wesson" sticker. That worked pretty good too! Lol

I had a "Protected By 2nd Amendment Security" sticker on my F-250. Came with the truck, it was the only one I left on there from the previous owner.

And yeah I agree, hide them speakers behind factory trim! Bad enough you're probably gonna have an aftermarket deck in the dash for all to see.

My 91 does not have rear speakers.

Ranger80 02-26-2014 08:41 AM

'92 was the first year for rear speakers and the hole was cut in the cab sheetmetal itself. There is no place for rear speakers in '91 and older trucks. FWIW, if somebody were real interested, I'm sure they could figure out a way to mount them or weld in the sheetmetal from a newer truck. Factory size was 6x8".

Thanks all for the info.
