Blower motor
My son is complaining that the air coming from the heat ducts or defroster is weak. Is this typically the fan motor or the fan itself? How easy is it to replace the fan motor?

It could be ducts that are not connected correctly or are so worn they leak.
Do you have factory Ac/heat or is it just a heater? If you have factory Ac/heat then it's a bitch to replace the blower. If its just a heater not so much. |

A lot easier to do with a none a/c truck, remove the complete box and replace it and you might as well replace the heater core since you are that deep into it.
Remove the glove box liner to give yourself some eye ball room. |
It is not as hard as the schematic makes it appear. I just replaced mine a couple of months ago. Best I can remember there are 4 bolts under the hood to remove the whole box, 2 hoses to disconnect, 2 electrical connections, and 2 control cables. A wonderful thing to have heat and defrost.Especially defrost.Took me about 2 hours between beers to do

Thanks. Yeah, the fan was working weakly, and now, not at all. Motor doesn't look so hard to get to and I do have the factory service manuals. Thanks for the parts manual drawings too. One question - do most of these have the Std heater or the H.O. heater. I'm seeing two options for the non-AC trucks.

I have seen more standard heater that HO heater in the JY trucks.

If you have the high output heater and the original dash bezel, it'll be marked like in the picture.
