Any new Transmissions?

I've seen plenty of talk about the engines, I'm wondering about new transmissions for the 2015 F-150. I test drove RAM's for the last year or so and found the hemi/8spd absolutely amazing. I was getting real world mpg near the eco boost, but with much better feel on the gearing (less hunting). It makes the 3.6 pentastar pull hard too with its low 1st/2nd.

I feel the 6 speed in the F-150 is a bit long in the tooth, and personally it would be a shame to mount the 2.7 to it (which is definitely going to need to the assistance in gearing if you ask me). I loved the F-150 the most after my totaled expedition, but still couldn't help but feel the tranny could use some help after driving so many RAM 1500's.

So are we going to see a more modern 8spd+ transmission? Or is Ford quiet on that?

The transmission in the new rams is definetly a strong point for them. I haven't driven them loaded, but in the couple times I've rented one for work, driving empty, they've been smooth as butter and absoloutly excellent.

Ask and ye shall receive. Trucks and full size SUV's will get the 10 speed. Cars and crossovers will get the 9 speed.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that these new transmissions will be available for mid model introductions.

I like having a lot of gears. I'm still stuck with my 4-speed . . . .

Sounds interesting. I was hoping to be hitting the lots first of 2015 to trade my fiesta back in for an F-150. But judging development speeds it will probably be at least 2016 models before any trannies comes out :(

I'm starting to see complaints on the ZF 8 speed in the new Ram trucks, plus a recall.

To be expected initially. The ZF 6 speed in the F150's sure had their growing pains and are still quite quirky.

I'm hoping that with a joint GM/Ford venture, the two of them will foresee any possible issues with the 10 speed otherwise there's going to be a ton of PO'd Silverado / F-150 owners out there at the same time.

I'll take a wild guess but this new gen might later on this one or the Super duty trucks will get the new 10 speed that Ford and GM are building together. Not sure on the physical size of it but it might happen. First heard about it last year so I'm not sure if its still in the development phase, or what. Haven't found much on it.
