Re-setting tire pressure
I drove off the car lot with 6.2L Super Duty Platinum that I wanted. But as I have learned more about it, I realized that my tire light is on. So I took all 4 tires up to 60 lbs. My tire gage only registers to 60. Bought a new gage today that goes up to 70 lbs. My inside door printout said that Michelin prefer 65 lbs. My Camry re-sets itself when you bring all 4 wheels into range, not the Platinum. Help !!!! Has anyone re-set their tire pressure yet? There is just so much to read and learn about this truck. I can use any and all help that I can get. :D:-huh

I had a tire 10 psi under the rest and the light came on. I pumped it back up and drove the truck for a couple of days before the system figured it out I guess...the light finally went out.

Check your door again. Mine says 80 psi in the rear and 65 psi in the front.

Congrats on the truck. The owners manual has detailed info on the TPMS. My sensors generally trip at 60 PSI. I generally keep 72PSI all around. Once the tires are correctly filled, you will generally have to drive around the block to get them to reset. IIRC, 20 MPH for 2 minutes. Most of the time, the pressure light indicator will go out after just going down the street (150 feet or so) If your light still trips, I believe the dealership should be able to have the range lowered for tripping the indicator light.

Re-setting tire pressure
Thank you very much. I think that I probably got 58.5 to 59 lbs. in one or two tires. I was a little scared to depend on a gage that was on its very upper limit. I feel more re-assured and I will check the door again and run the pressure to where it should be. Thanks everyone for your help. :D:-wink

I got a dealer to reset my tpms set point to 55 psi, they did it free with an oil change, but it was not the dealer I purchased the truck from, they would not do it, or didn't know how? I run 65 when towing and 55 when not, factory was 75 or 80, I don't run my truck to max loads and check my tire temps at every rest stop.

Tire pressure worked
Set the tire pressure according to door specs, all warning lights went out. The truck handles much better.:-drink

Reset proceedure from the manual...
To provide the vehicle’s load carrying capability, some vehicles require different recommended tire pressures in the front tires as compared to the rear tires. The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) equipped on these vehicles is designed to illuminate the low tire pressure warning light at two different pressures; one for the front tires and one for the rear tires. Since tires need to be rotated to provide consistent performance and maximum tire life, the tire pressure monitoring system needs to know when the tires are rotated to determine which set of tires are on the front and which are on the rear. With this information, the system can detect and properly warn of low tire pressures. TPMS reset tips: • To reduce the chances of interference from another vehicle, the TPMS reset procedure should be performed at least three feet (one meter) away from another Ford Motor Company vehicle undergoing the TPMS reset procedure at the same time. • Do not wait more than two minutes between resetting each tire sensor or the system will time-out and the entire procedure will have to be repeated on all four wheels. • A double horn chirp indicates the need to repeat the procedure. Performing the TPMS reset procedure It is recommended that you read the entire procedure before attempting. 1. Drive the vehicle above 20 mph (32 km/h) for at least two minutes and then park in a safe location where you can easily get to all four tires and have access to an air pump. 2. Place the ignition in the off position and keep the key in the ignition. 3. Cycle the ignition to the on position with the engine off. 4. Turn the hazard flashers on then off three times. This must be accomplished within 10 seconds. If the reset mode has been entered successfully, the horn will sound once, the TPMS indicator will flash and the message center (if equipped) will display TRAIN LEFT FRONT TIRE. If this does not occur, please try again starting at Step 2. If after repeated attempts to enter the reset mode, the horn does not sound, the TPMS indicator does not flash and the message center (if equipped) does not display TRAIN LEFT FRONT TIRE, seek service from your authorized dealer. 5. Train the TPMS sensors in the tires using the following TPMS reset sequence starting with the left front tire in the following clockwise order: • Left front (Driver’s side front tire) • Right front (Passenger’s side front tire) • Right rear (Passenger’s side rear tire) • Left rear (Driver’s side rear tire) 6. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem on the left front tire; decrease the air pressure until the horn sounds. Note: The single horn chirp confirms that the sensor identification code has been learned by the module for this position. If a double horn is heard, the reset procedure was unsuccessful, and must be repeated. 7. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem on the right front tire; decrease the air pressure until the horn sounds. 8. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem on the right rear tire; decrease the air pressure until the horn sounds. 9. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem on the left rear tire; decrease the air pressure until the horn sounds. Training is complete after the horn sounds for the last tire trained (driver’s side rear tire), the TPMS indicator stops flashing, and the message center (if equipped) displays: TRAINING COMPLETE. 10. Turn the ignition off. If two short horn beeps are heard, the reset procedure was unsuccessful and must be repeated. If after repeating the procedure and two short beeps are heard when the ignition is turned to off, seek assistance from your authorized dealer. 11. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure as indicated on the Safety Compliance Certification Label or Tire Label located on the B-Pillar or the edge of the driver’s door. Info appreciation
Thank you for all of the helpful information. I know that without it, I will be buying a lot more tires and voiding a lot more warranties. But, it is just a shade above walking. This is really a lot of knowledge to retain, hopefully they will find a way to simplify it in the future.:-huh

Has anyone tried this procedure? I'm confused a bit. Do you want to have them at the pressure you want the sensors to be reset at from the start or something..? I don't see how else you can reset them unless the display has a reading you can adjust... Or is this whole ridiculous procedure just to reset a warning light that won't go off? Again, has anyone here actually done this?

All you are going with the procedure listed is "training" the sensor as to where it is on the vehicle. Rotating your tires for example.

Light went out. Truck handles well. I found out that I needed to inflate the tires to at least 60 lbs. as the info on the pole required that they be inflated to 65 lbs. :-wink

I just had new tires put on in November and dealer reset for me!
