loud exhaust...........

Has anyone changed the exhaust? Back in the day you go to muffler shop, put in some glass packs and go full on redneck with loud pipes!
On my Cummins, I would straight pipe them. What can you do the 6.2 with out screwing with the warranty. Saw on youtube , where a guy just removed the muffler and left the resonators...it sounded pretty good.
Ideas?

id say go the cheap route take muffler off and rear resonator . have a shop put stainless steel back in . couldnt be more than 50 to 100 bucks. if i decide to do anything thats all im doing.

I was thinking of removing the muffler let and res and replace it with a high flow muffler. I think it's dyna flo or magna flow that has a new muffler that is specifically made to not drone.

I like how quiet the truck is but would not mind a little growl but I hate a damn drone. I am hesitant to make a change until I can hear something first hand. Being that F-250's with gas engines seems to be rare around me I have yet to see one that has different exhaust

I did the muffler and resonator delete. Had a muffler shop do it for $100. Its just a bit louder than I like but I will live with it. No notice in mpg or power.

What about passing emissions? Will it pass does anyone know if u delete them ????

Hotrod70d 02-08-2014 09:28 PM

Should not be a need of emissions on a 10000 lb truck . Mine did not need it. Plus its just a muffler not a converter. Also here in pa if check engine light is not on it passes.

I changed the muffler in mine because I wNt more growl without a drone sound. Local muffler shp recommended magnaflow over flowmaster because flowmaster were louder.

I am very happy with the magnaflow muffler sound. Not to loud, much deep than stock sound.

Apart from the sound have you noticed any difference in power or mpg?

There are many models to choose from, what made you choose 12259? Did they suggest it?

I bought the truck used on 12-30-13 and replaced muffler on 1-2. Only drove it twice before replacing it, so I did not noticed any power difference and same goes for MPG since I didn't even drive 40 miles before replacing it.

I just knew the stock muffler sound didn't sound like a truck to me. I at least needed to know the truck was ON. :)

As for the muffler itself, the muffler shop guy suggested it, as it is the "middle" range muffler for sound for Magnaflow. He send if it was
"to loud" or not loud enough I could swap it out. But I am happy with the deeper growl of the truck without getting droned out at high RPMs.

I have a 2011 limited and no power difference noticed it sounds faster but it's not :) so I put it back to stock after a couple of years of noise . I guess I'm just getting old:-X15

I got my rig new, replaced the muffler and the back resonator with a Flowmaster 50 at about 600 miles. The sound is nice, you can tell when it is running now.

My 2014 205 6.2L came with cat-muffler-res-muffler. We cut off after the 1st muffler eliminating the res/muffler and got a great deep sound.
