Plastic fuel tanks for our trucks?
So my F350 need a rear tank, works, but leaks at half.
The front tank is a newer plastic tank, has the same shape and everything as the original steel one. Anyone know who makes, and where can I get a rear plastic tank for these trucks? I don't think i've ever seen some. No idea where the previous owner got this one from, but I like it. |
Ford had a plastic 23 gallon factory front tank for these trucks, mine has one, has a large screw-on lockring. as far as I know, ford never had plastic rear tanks though, mines steel.

There's a bunch of places online that make tanks for the 86 and earlier, but IDK it those would fit ours, as in the fuel pump module physically screwing into the tank.

Interesting. |
There more common in newer OBS PSD's, but, I've had mine dropped down 2 or three times, its 100% factory motorcraft. Garrett M. in the OBS FB group had pictures on there of one in his PSD, think its a 96 or 97, but essentially same thing minus the different sender. He hadn't heard of one from a IDI either.

f250/chip truck
iv got that front 23 gallon poly on mine too.
for the rear i went with one of these: MTS COMPANY, L.C. - Ford Pickup fuel tanks #4253 Ford Pickup Mts Gas Tank 1985 1996 4253 | eBay |
Oh very nice! Thanks for the links! Abit pricey, but be worth while at the long run.

yeah it's actually about 18 gallons.that's topping it right up to the neck too.
she'll never rust out so you can always take it with ya to the next truck.;) |
I'm looking at a rear tank replacement also. Beyond never rusting, are there any other benefits to the poly tanks?
