Putting the front end back together, and getting ready to have a radiator made with trans cooler lines and the proper hose configuration. The original won't work, so $300.00 ought to fix the problem.

Thanks. Just dropped off the stock radiator, support and shroud to my friends at Superior Radiator. They making a custom aluminum radiator and shroud. Showed me the difference between the cores on a Chinese radiator and his American made ones. Chinese=1/2",American 1". Also, the Chinese ones use a plastic petcock, he uses brass.


Made me get rid of the 4 blade fan on the 302 and mounted a thermostatically controlled fan on the custom shroud. Putting the outlets and inlets where they belong and trans cooler fittings also.

That's actually pretty good if you ask me. I bought a stock replacement for my crew cab project from Mid Fifty for more than that. It looks great in the box on the shelf seeing that I will not be using it on any of my projects.:-X19

Radiator ready!
 

Well, picked up the aluminum radiator today, and started mocking up the installation with the original sheet metal. I'm going to have to weld in some square tube steel to anchor the core support, but it fits well, although a bit higher than the engine.


The hoses line up fairly well, and I am using an electric fan., thermostatically controlled, instead of the original 302 fan.


I'm not sure about cavitation, since the radiator sits higher than the engine, but maybe someone will chime in and tell me not to worry.

Fits the opening nice. I have no idea about the height and how well it will work.

It was built identically to the original, and fits perfectly in the support. The flat shroud and fan are not original, but the height and width match the original.


I just don't know if the water will circulate properly with the radiator being higher than the engine.

Back on the job again, after a several month hiatus restoring a '47 Dodge 1 ton pickup. Got the fenders mounted and bolted, going to try the steps and hood over the weekend, if the sub-zero wind-chills don't do me in!!

Now get those steps on so I can see them. Then drive it down to see us at Terrys F100s. Great job so far, Bruce

Mounted the driver's side step yesterday, and then had to modify the steel step supports to accommodate the cab mounting steel structure.
The steps look great so far and fit perfectly.


I'll post some pictures later this week, when the wind chill creeps out of negative double digits. I am not brave enough to drive the coe all the way there, but I will visit someday.
