OT Hot Rod Lincoln!

Is that a V-12 flathead?

Is that a V-12 flathead?

Looks about like I remember them. I know many of them were replaced with V8s as the V12 had oiling and cooling problems.

Thats awesome, I've always knew the song but I've never seen the car.

Ray, You are correct, oil pressure when newly rebuilt and hot barely registers on the gage. I had a friend that I helped with on his 41 Lincoln Continental convertible. IMHO not the best engine out of Ford.

Never knew there was actually a car tied to the song.... Cool

This is a Lincoln Zephyr V12, there are three different sizes, two were installed in 1940/48 Continentals.

1936/39: 267 cid / 1940/41: 292 cid / 1942/46: 306 cid / 1947/48: 292 cid. All were infamous for overheating, smoking like a chimney, knocking like a bill collector.

This is not the 414 cid V12 that was installed in 1932/39 Lincolns.

Sharp looking pics. Thanks for sharing.

So, was the song written about this actual car, the car pictured, or was the car shown in the video a result of the song. I would think there were dozens or more "Hot Rod Lincolns". Anyone know for sure? Not that it matters, but my SWAG is this story is hype.
Edit: I did not listen to the whole dialogue.
