Best place to order BTS tranny?

Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to order my first BTS 4r100 here in a few weeks and I'm trying to figure out the best way to order it. I'm not sure if I should buy it directly from BTS or order it through another distributor. I emailed back and forth with Bean's Diesel a couple weeks ago and they quoted me $4500 + $500 for shipping both ways and I'm wondering if that's about the best I'm going to find or if I can get it for a little cheaper somewhere else.

Thanks

I would imagine go straight to the source...

And since you're in Houston area, you might as well drive up there to watch Brian install it for you and ask all the questions you want. That's worth half the price of the tranny.

I would go straight to the source. $500 buys a lot of diesel. Then you know it was installed right and no middle man if there's a warranty problem.

That's actually not a bad idea! Do y'all by any chance know how much Brian charges for the labor to install it?

I would just call Brian direct for prices. But I think to get the warranty he is going to want trans lines flushed and a new trans cooler. I don't think he likes reusing the old cooler. But I would check with him as far as where he stands on that.

I think his price includes install if you go there. But like mentioned, he likes a new trans cooler installed which you should do anyway.

Go to BTS if all possible. You get to see him work his magic plus they are all very nice people. He will explain his upgrades, get a ride-along and any tweaks. He will strongly recommend a new cooler. All of that done in a day.

Does BTS charge the same for all of his builds? I don't remember seeing pricing on the website.

The JW TowMaster is $4700 and Street Perfromance is $5700.

JW is closer to me, so freight might be a little cheaper...

If I remember right he only does one type of build and its all to the max. so he charges just one price. they are pretty good at replying to emails if your needing a definite price.

Get him (Bryan) on the phone. Great guy to talk to and he'll listen to your questions and answer thoroughly. He will certainly want to do the 6.0L tranny cooler (a brand new one). I almost went that route several years ago until I discovered that my loss of power running up a steep grade was only a plugged fuel filter, and NOT tranny slippage, and it was through talking it over with Bryan that led me to two conclusions... First, Bryan will be my tranny upgrade source, and second, I didn't need the upgrade at that time. Also, he was going to rebuild the tranny in my Excursion and swap it into my F250 while moving my F250's tranny over to the Ex... all in one day.

The more I think about it, the more I want to make the trip up there and watch him install it. So do you get to watch him build it or just install it?

I would drive to BTS and have them install it. I called a month or so ago and their price is the same if they install it or if they ship it. The lady I spoke to said there was no additional charge to install. They could rebuild yours while you wait and have you out the door that afternoon if you arrive when they open.

BOTH. No secrets, just quality.

Awesome! I'm going to call them tomorrow! So if I made an appointment to go up there and have him rebuild mine and install it, would I still have to endure the month or so wait time? Or do you basically get to jump to the front of the line if you go up there?

Call now and make an appointment. One month waiting is the norm no matter if you go to his shop or have it shipped. Quality only has one speed. :D

Sometimes he has an appointment drop off his calendar and you may get an earlier build slot.

Also, have a little patience in calling. Mornings are usually the best to catch them. At least when I had him build mine several years ago, that's the advice I was given.
