lightning problem...HELP!!

hoping someone can save me a trip to the dealer on this one... my 1999 lightning has 28,000 miles on it, no mods except for an airaid intake. it has always run perfect except the other day it just started skipping and running on less than 8 cylinders. It was almost out of fuel, i filled it up, put in a bottle of drygas, no help. Runs perfect first thing in the morning for about 10 min. of driving, flutters when pushed hard after that 10 min or so, idles rough but will run on the highway at cruise pretty well-almost perfect... most of the problem is while on the gas, at all.
I run synthetic oil, the dealer has done the intercooler swap but has never touched the truck since.
Q: fuel filter? plugs?, electronics? I just hate the monkeys that work at my local dealership, would love to avoid them if possible!
Thanks for any and all info!

I would start with the fuel filter, if you have more than 5000 mile on it, theres a good chance that its your problem.

Larry.
