Chamberlain MyIQ openers. They really are cool.
Bought a couple of these for my 10x10 doors over a year ago. They're belt drive and super quiet. Wall keypad displays temp in garage, which has been pretty handy. A remote annunciator in the house tells me if doors have been left open, and a button press closes all doors. Best feature is the internet gateway. You can open/close/check status of the doors with their app. This is great for letting people in when you're away without compromising your codes. The gadget factor is cool, but the added connectivity really can be valuable. :-X22

Definitely a great arrangement---what prevents miscreants from hacking those internet codes and helping themselves to your goods though?

Even without all that though my first thought about all this new fangled gee whiz "look what I can do from afar......." techno-stuff is "what can/will go wrong?" |
There's recently been a report about about a refrigerator being hit by bot net :)

hj Yeah---heard that too on my local news, adding to the already-run bits about Target's woes. Seems all that internet connectivity for blooming kitchen appliances isn't immune from hackers. Of course I wonder what info is gained by hacking a dishwasher? Are people really so dumb to add personal info access to them too? |
