windshield leaks

ok guys I have been told that the EX has a problem with the windshield leaking on the drivers side, and it does, so does replacing the windshield fix this? Or is it something else that requires 50lbs of silicone :-huh:-huh:-huh

A lot of times the bigger issue is once you remove the windshield their is rust under it that needs to be taken care of, I think once they replace the windshield it should be sealed..

On my 2003, I had a drip from passenger side top when raining hard. Took it to windshield shop. They were able to remove and re-do the seal at only about $50. Did not leak again. No rust detected in that case...

A lot of times it can be resealed, but if you have a cracked windshield your better off just replacing it. That way they can check for rust at the same time.

Hard to see if there is any rust with out removal, but it can be done.

Either way, any good glass shop should be able to take care of it for you.

Whether replacing the w/s or not, I think the only way to seal the leak is to remove the w/s and re-do the sealant. At least, that is the way I remember it being done.

I have resealed plenty of leaking ones over the years, but I am a glass technician, so I would see more than the average guy would.

If there is surface rust issues; remove and re-install is the way to go. Re-sealing would only prolong the issue. If your not sure and you want to keep it for a while, don't bother with the re-seal. If the windshield has not been replaced recently and the leak has started; chances are it's not related to a poor install but, rather a surface rust issue. I speak also as a auto glass tech.
