2013 Escape Sel
 

Recently bought new 2013 Escape in Canada, where DRL are law, and all vehicles are equipped with them. Unlike some, this one does NOT use the fog lights as the DRL. It uses low beams on reduced voltage.
The owners manual shows a DRL fuse (139) and a relay, but there is no fuse there or relay just an empty slot! So, where is the relay and fuse??
I bought LED lights to mount where the black insert is below the headlamps. They are made to fit there, but I want to change the circuit to eliminate the use of the low beams as DRL. Can anyone help? Thanks,

NO help, but an amusing story.

My '97 chevy was the same way, low beams at a reduced voltage for DRLs.
Anyway, I bought a 2004 Chrysler back in '04, and wanted to put DRLs on it.
Bought a DRL module from a Chrysler dealer, after looking the part up in a Dodge/Chrysler catalog. Guess what? No place for the module to plug into.
It even said right on the box, DRL module, '01-04 Dodge Caravan/Chrysler T&C.
Turns out the DRLs are part of the BCM (body control module), so, If I go to a dealer and pay $$, they'll turn it on (drl) thru software/re-programming.

Perhaps your Escape is like this (BCM/whatever computer controlled).
A fuse to protect a relay sounds OK, but a relay doesn't control voltage, it only enables its.
Maybe the manual is fubar, much like the Dodge/Chrysler parts manual.
