Planning F1 or F100 ( 50`s) overhaul

Ford pu noob here. I am presently hoping to get hold of a 55 F100 or a 50 F1. These kind of vehicles are not common in Sweden.

While chasing I also try to plan the restoration work. I will definitely make a full frame off job. I believe that once the frame has all bolted parts removed it can be lifted and moved by two persons.
Is this correct and what is the approx mass of a F1 or F100 frame when all bolted parts have been removed?

Best regards

Ola

Welcome to the Forum

Ola;

A cab can be lifted by one person, from the frame if you have a rolling jig built that is at the same elevation as the frame; but three to four people would be ideal. I don't know the weight (mass) of the frame itself but two people would be able to lift it, if it was stripped down. Welcome to the site!

I am doing a frame off on a 53 F100 and could move the frame some by myself. I would guess about 400lb (180kg). Two people can move it but 3 or 4 would be best as Tom suggests.

Frame weights

Hi and thanks for the replies.

I wil plan to have a couple of strong friends to help me. The frame will be caried on to my back porch ( 7x10 m with a concrete floor) thru the garage, once it has been initially sandblasted and painted with some light rust protection.

After it has been straightened, adjusted, welded and whatever it will go back to the paintshop for final blasting and powdercoating.

However, this is a bit of daydreaming, have given offers on a F1 and a F100 and hope to get the F100 which is in very restoreable and unmodified condition.

Best regards
Ola
