2008 F350 dually front suspension swap
Has anyone tried to put a heavy front end from an 2008 F450 on a standard 2008 F350 dually? Thinking about doing it, any information greatly appreciated.

What do you want to do it for? Looking for more capacity or mainly the tighter turning? There were a couple years that the wide axle was an option on the F350 as well. I'd look more in to that for your application just cause it should be easier to just bolt up.

You won't gane any legal capacity. The door sticker is what you have to go by.
But the ultimate factor is the tires. Sean :-drink |
The turning ability of a heavy front end is the reason, especially for my crew cab long bed. Thanks for the information.

I would think it should be easy for a competent front-end shop. But you would have 2 different bolt patterns front to rear, plus the gear-ratios would need to be changed from 4.30 or 4.88, depending on which you put in.
But, I agree, the decreased turning radius is really handy. Joe |
My truck has 4.30 gears already so that is one problem solved, I had heard that the front hubs would transfer to the heavy front end but have not confirmed it.

Not only 2 different bolt patterns, different wheel sizes. 17" vs 19.5" If you are willing to change the wheels and tires, then it doesn't sound like too hard a project. You would need 8 to 10 bolt adapters for the rear.
Need to ask some front-end shops, but that is probably going to be a another problem--I haven't found many shop familiar with the 450 front ends. Joe |
