Custom Battery tray build
I need to do something about my almost non-existing battery tray.
Can some of y'all that have built your own show off a few pics? I might even go with a double battery setup, I plan on installing a winch and fog lights in the future. |
I haven't gotten back to this for a while so it's not done. But but people seemed to like mine in my crew cab build.
All stainless & should bolt in just like a stock one when done. I was thinking I'd make them available for sale in either stainless or regular steel once I got mine in & the "bugs" worked out with fitment, etc. Here was stock. Still have it & can sell as not really rusty at all http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps4cd2c45c.jpg Here's my new ones. Doing one on each side. http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/q...psf6fb5bb2.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps6b1f8d69.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps79d6bfb7.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps2cf6f2ec.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps3fd2a7cc.jpg |

Whenever I get back on working on my crew this should go pretty quickly I hope. Just not sure when I'll be getting back to the crew...

I'm just a general guy who likes to fabricate & has a soft spot for dimple dies/flared holes. They save weight, add rigidity & overall just look cool. Not a bad combo! I drew these battery trays up in cad based on measurements off the stock battery tray & then a time or 2 of making a cardboard template off of my design & test fitting. When I think I got things "right" I sent out to a buddy I deal with who does laser cutting for me. Got these parts back well over a year ago now, but it was shortly before I moved out of my shop so I never got too far with the install on them. I dimpled the holes & then bent up the sides & welded them, as well as making the top strap hold down rods, but then things came to a screeching halt. |
:-X22....and as always, You do AWESOME work.

thanks man!
