http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/...tsa_ids=13T012

Report Receipt Date: DEC 12, 2013
NHTSA Campaign Number: 13T012000
Component(s): TIRES
Potential Number of Units Affected: 1,200,000

Manufacturer: Michelin North America, Inc.
SUMMARY:

Michelin North America, Inc., (Michelin) is recalling certain Michelin LTX M/S tires, size LT225/75R16 115/112R LRE, manufactured from January 10, 2010, through June 23, 2012, and supplied for use as original equipment on certain Ford vehicles, and as replacement equipment on various brand commercial light trucks, full-sized heavy duty vans, small RVs and some large pickup trucks. These tires could experience tread separation. CONSEQUENCE:

Tread separation can lead to rapid air loss, which may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY:

Michelin will notify owners and Michelin dealers will replace the tires free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on January 6, 2014. Owners may call Michelin Consumer Care Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, or Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 4:30pm EST at the following numbers: USA: 1-800-231-5893 (language options: English and Spanish) NOTES:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

It figures that they would finally do something about those worthless tires after I have already replaced mine! Ford replaced them on my brother's truck at somewhere around 15,000 miles because there were cracks in the sidewalls. I'm guessing he is going to end up with another free set of tires with this recall since his replacement tires fall within the criteria! Some people have all the luck.

I don't believe the recalled tires are the same type that was installed on our trucks. I believe these are the tires installed on the F150's.

I think all the F250/350 used at least 18", not 16"

Actually 17".......

No I have 18" Michelin on my 2011 F350 SRW not 17" those are on the 350 dully.

FishOnOne 12-15-2013 11:28 PM

You can get "17 on XL and XLT SRW models also.

MTalley 12-16-2013 02:18 PM

That's a fairly small tire. I'm thinking it would probably only be on SRW XL's and maybe XLT's. The newer duallies have 245 width tires, the older ones 235's, so not those. These (the ones being recalled) are only 30" tall.
