Heater hoses

You guys have been great on every question I have had. I got another one for you. I have an 88' F250 7.3 ZF 5 speed 4x4. The heater doesn't work. I know why because the hoses that go to the heater core in the fire wall are not there. The guy who I bought the truck from swapped a motor from a 90' in. I don't know why he didn't hook it up. But it was 27 deg last night driving 35 mins home and I am tired of freezing my butt off.

I have looked online trying to find a diagram to figure out where the hoses go from the heater core to the motor. Does anyone have a diagram or picture? And are there any components in between? Thanks.

One goes to a port on top of the water heater behind the top radiator hose, and the other goes to a port down on the passenger side by the exhaust manifold. It won't matter which goes to which in your case. And since your heater core was blocked off, I'm guessing it was probably bad. Might as well replace it, too.

Great thanks. Not sure if the heater core is bad or not. I guess I will find out when I hook it up.

that would be my guess too.just get ready for a wet floor lol.it's odd you don't see the hoses though? most often, you don't pull and cap the ports, you just join the two hoses together with a coupling thus bypassing the blown heater core, which is easy to replace too.so look for this.getting kinda late for these type of fixes.don't be afraid to ask a month or so sooner next year.:D

Yea no kidding. It's got one hose going from the water pump to the port underneath the exhaust manifold. I am going to go ahead and just replace the heater core.
