heater core replacement
 

I've got to replace the leaky heater core in my crew cab. Are there any special tips are is it pretty straightforward?

My truck does not have integral A/C. I have the regular heater with fresh air intake.

It's been a couple years since I took the heater box out-a my parts truck. As I recall it was super easy. Couple of hoses,couple of cables, and I think about 4 nuts on the firewall under the hood.:-X22

It's very straight forward and not that you need it Alabama but you can get a heavy duty heater core for a few bucks more...

oh we need some heat in north AL, at least my daughters do, how do I find the HD core, I only see one listed at the parts store

I checked O'reily's website and they list a HD core, it is taller, for a Dentside truck. Will this fit in the Bumpside heater assembly? The pipe connections look to be in the same location. The part number for the dentside HD heater core is Murray 399023. The part number listed for the dentside trucks is Murray 399024.

My radiator parts place asked me if I wanted the std or High Output and seeing as mine came with the factory HO unit that's what I got. Maybe try a radiator shop?

I just went back through my old posts and it was a high output blower motor not heater core, sorry.

Thanks. I'm going to get the HD dent core and see if it will fit in my case.

Do you have the part number for the High Output motor? I don't see the option on O'reily's site.

I have to warm a crew cab so I need all the help I can get.

I'll see if I can find it, it was 6 or 7 years ago that I got it. Seeing as it was a factory option maybe one of our number gurus can come up with a number.

After doing some checking I don't think the dentside HO heater core will fit in the bumpside heater box. I'll order some new foam seals and replace them while I have this thing apart.

Anthony, I did some looking on the Advance Auto site there are two listed 399024 & 399023, The 23 lists for 76 and does not fit a 72 F100 (just picked one). They look the same, and I have read here that they use same through our year range.

If it's getting hot water in the box and cold air from outside isn't overcoming it, you should have heat from 24.

There is a lot of air leak in my truck and heating is harder that it once was.

I ordered a seal kit for the box and bought the 399024 core. I'll tear it apart and put it back like it was. Thanks for everyone's help.
