Winter Tires

Hello

First off I would like to say hello as this is my first post on this forum. I want to say thanks for all the great information I have got from this forum, which in turn helped me pull the trigger on a 2013 5.0 black xlt screw 6.5 box.

This is my first ford, prior to this I have built many jeeps and still run a 2003 Grand Cherokee Limited AWD 4.7HO with a 4" lift. Soon to be 6.5" lift with 35" tires since the f150 will be my daily driver.

So my first question is, regarding winter tires. I live in Cochrane Alberta Canada where as expected we get a fair amount of snow, also with the chinooks the roads melt and freeze over alot so winter tires are a must. I have run siped mud tires for the winter, which perform ok on ice and are amazing in a couple inches of snow. However I would like to know what works well on the f150, as well as some reviews and experiences from the forum.

Thanks

Winter tires I am considering:

LT285/70/17 or around 33" tire which is hard to find in a winter tire

General Altimax LT

Bridgestone blizzak

Any other recommendations in that tire size?

Thanks

not on an f150, but we have the General Altimax on our Subaru.

Very good in loose snow, and awesome on snowpack. With those tires, it is darn near unstopable.

we don't get much for shear ice, so i can't speak to that, however, they are studable if you expect a lot of ice.

I have had the Blizzaks on my cars for years. Just got my daughter a set. They are a great winter tire. I have never gotten stuck in a Buffalo winter with them. I have never had them on a truck though.

i just put a new set of blizzaks on my expedition. they are an amazing tire!! i run cooper M+S studded on 2 other trucks and i had firestone winterforce studded before that on the expedition and any of those tires will give you amazing traction in winter conditions. our roads are glare ice/snow packed for 6 months of the year and i could not ask for better traction.

blizzak DM V1's i just put on
