DPF Delete and Tuner
 

Any recommendations for mechanic/shop in north central AZ to make these mods on my 2008 6.4L?

This is a task that can easily be done yourself. It takes some basic hand tools and a friend to help lower the dpf/doc down but outside of that it is fairly easy. I'm from the cornbelt and I don't know any reputable mechanics in your area. Save a little money and do it yourself, plus you might learn something new. There is a good video on youtube on deleting the 6.4 dpf. What kind of tuner do you have? If you went with a spartan you can just unplug your exhaust sensors and leave them in your stock exhaust. Be sure to use dielectric grease on the electrical end left on your truck and tape them up so you don't get corrosion. If you have to pull the sensors the exhaust back pressure sensor (I think that's the one) on the dpf is prone to breaking and stripping out. Just take it easy on it and use some pb blaster and work it back and forth.

The way the EPA is cracking down I'd guess it would be near impossible to find a diesel shop to take that kind of liability. It is very easy to remove the DPF and put a replacement pipe in.

If someone recommends a shop hopefully they PM the OP. I would not think any shop wants their name advertised for removing an EPA mandated emission component. I tackled the job myself but not everyone has the time to do it themselves. Aside from being physically able to do it, it's really a job most can do.

Thats what I thought too.. I plan on deleting mine in the near future (once I get a spartan), and go that route. Knowing the diesel shops here, and in AZ (especially Phoenix), they wont touch that job with a 10 foot pole. I watched a fella get lectured by a shop foreman just for having the tuner in the cab, and DPF deleted. The guy treated the rancher like he was a kid, the way he carried on and lectured him about "moddifying" a vehicle, messing with emissions, and overfueling the injection system by using tuners... I figured that was enough for me to know shops are not very receptive to that job! LOL!
