5th wheel hitch suggestions

Alright before heading to college I'm probably going to get a camper and live in during college... Dk what camper so I can't give a weight probably somewhere between 9 and 12,000 lbs.. Also have a ball hitch in the way so would be nice to have one that removes off the rails... Any suggest..:)

If finances are tight, I would suggest picking up something used. Many folks have preferences, but they all work without a problem and resale on a used fiver hitch is very low.

Good luck, :)

Look up a in your favorite web search for your vehicle. When I was looking for a 5th wheel hitch for my 24' Jayco, they ran around $600 to $800 for the full kit you install your self. I happened to trade a incomplete mud buggy(POS chevy) for a RBW Industries 5th wheel hitch. I still had to get the frame mounts("L" brackets) but install was no problem. Get electric brake controller hooked up, that is a must with these heavy 5th wheel campers! My 24' Jayco weights in around 12K loaded(per factory sticker)!!!!

Just a reminder with a 5th wheel, you loose your pickup bed usage when you tow the 5th wheel. That killed any ATC riding and using the camper for a weekend camp out..... But like you going to , I have to live in it till I get back on my feet.

Down here in SW Florida, a used 5th wheel is gold! Even for a pos camper the lowest I found was $5000!!!! I did score on my 5thwheel though:-X06

To the OP, look around your area and you see one sitting in someone's yard, go up and ask if they may sell it. That sometimes get you the best deal! I did.

I was responding to the hitch. Used prices are high everywhere as most folks have discovered they can do better selling their used RVs themselves rather than trade them in. That has forced some dealers to buy directly from the public rather than rely on trades for used units. Prices have come up some most everywhere and the RV manufacturers are enjoying a major resurgence right now.
