1970 360 to 300 six SWAP
hey guys. I have a 1970 ford f100 that originally had a 360 in it. I rebuilt an '84 300, and dropped it into the truck.
engine to tranny is good, but having issues with the original radiator. this new motor is quite a bit longer, and can't fit radiator and clutch fan. is there a way to get around this? thanks! will post pictures later. |
I may be wrong , have been in the past , but... I do think there are different mounting positions . Behind the rad support or in front of the rad support .

Sorry , more to the post . How bout no clutch , straight fan ? Better yet ( to some ) go electric on the fan set up . Saves a bunch of room ,with a pusher set up . Also gain a few horses . Just a thought !

I had this same issue. Without the clutch your fan will sit just under a inch away from the 3 row radiator if that is what you have. I learned the hard way what bad motor mounts and a fan that close does to a radiator and fan.

I installed the proper radiator so they're are no more issues. My truck dose not need the big super cooling guy in it. This truck is just meant to use as a toy. I was told once to get a pusher elec fan and upgrade the alternator but this should work fine.
