Try finding a vacant carpark and do fugure 8's going from lock to lock .
Do it with the engine at low revs and see what happens .

noisy power steering

I don't know if this will help but my 03 Dodge Caravan had a noisy power steering. It turned out to be a clogged return screen in the reservoir. In this case the screen is part of the reservoir so a $17.00 reservoir replacement fixed it. I don't know if there is a screen in your truck. :)

Put the front end on jack stands, start the motor and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times. This should purge the air from the system. Wheels off the ground. You want to move volume not create pressure.

i will try putting on jack stands ,, its the second pump i put on ,,, now could it be something with gear box ?? it was used ( toyota ) i dont know anything about it ?

thanks guys

This is a long shot but, do you have the high presure and return lines attached to the correct ports.

lilrobo 11-02-2013 08:44 AM

i was thinking that too ,, but would it work if hook up wrong ????

carnut122 11-02-2013 10:09 AM

If it's a Ford pump, it's VERY common (Google it). Mine whines because the return line is not 110% sealed and apparently sucks in air as the fluid is returned. 2 hose clamps and a thorough bleeding of the system calmed it down quite a bit. Put FlowMasters on it that dump under the bed (like mine) and you'll barely be able to hear it.:)

Look for foam in the top of the reservoir. That can indicate a need for purging (raise and turn stop-stop), low fluid, or an air leak.

lilrobo 11-02-2013 01:57 PM

nope its a GM pump ,, maybe the pump is too small for the toy gear box ???
got me i am driving it out to dinner and tomm i will jack it up and do the stop to stop ,,, like i said it seems to do after it get hot

lilrobo 11-02-2013 02:01 PM

i was told over at the toyota forums that i might need to bleed the box ??

i dont know

carnut122 11-02-2013 02:48 PM

Horvaths has you covered. Make sure you have no air leaks then do what he said. It took a lot (maybe 30 times stop to stop) to get all of the air out of mine. Any air getting in will nullify all of your work.

lilrobo 11-02-2013 07:52 PM

just wondering if i have a leak at 1 of the lines ,, you would think i could see fluid ??

dmack91 11-02-2013 08:29 PM

A leak on the pressure side should be obvious, but on the return side not so much.
