Tips on replacing 87 F250 460 engine mounts w/out pulling engine?
Any tips on replacing 460 engine mounts on an F250 w/out actually pulling the motor? Like, how about pulling the hood, disconnecting the exhaust & tranny mount (C6) and raising the engine w/ my engine crane just high enough to do the job?
I did this on a 70 chevelle once w/ a TH350 tranny; it was a piece of cake; but different motor mount style & much, much more clearance than what this appears to be...Any tips or ideas to make this as simple as possible? Thanks in advance; J.D.... |
Well..... on 97 F250 i have unbolted the transmission mount and put a bottle jack on a safe location on the transmission and jack up enough to pull the bolts to raise the motor a couple of inches. i never took the mounts off but i would think you would have enough room to pull the mount.

I attempted to do this on my 88 but abandoned the project when I could not break loose a couple of bolts for the mounts, even with heat...my plan was to free all bolts first, then jack the engine
