oil change from dealer?

I bought this 2011 f250 6.7 this summer with 9,900 miles on it. About a month age I got a message on the dash that said to check cooling fluid. I was on the road and stopped at a ford dealer I was passing at the time. They put it on a computer and found everything okay and reset the computer. He stated that it should be reset when doing a oil change. I was wondering do they reset computers at oil changes? And what needs resting? lastly what's the cost. Note that no oil change message has come up on the dash and have put on about 6,000miles. I'm in ct any info would help thanks.

the oil minder needs to know when the oil was changed. so in the dash, settings, you can reset the indicator. I had the same problem. Bought a used truck, it had just had the oil changed, I have the receipt. 3000miles later I am towing my new FW 1200 miles from home and the change oil soon message appears.... I called the ford dealer and they say 'oops, we probably didn't reset'.. do this...

Oil changes on the 6.7 have been coming in around 7,000 miles.

see here to learn how to reset

The dealer had no clue what they were doing..................That message is to do exactly as it says, check the coolant. Ford has test strips to check the coolant additvies to see if everything is ok or certain elements of the coolant need to be adjusted. It's been discussed on here before, do a search and you'll find some threads...............

Coolant test

Every 15 thousand miles check the coolant with the procedure in the owners manual. Has nothing to due with Engine Oil.

I asked my dealer to do the test for me and they did not know what I was taking about. I have heard the same thing on this site before. So if you ask the dealer to do it for you have your owner manual in hand so you can quote from it.

The Ford dealer in Wiilamantic, ct new what it was when I walked in the door and told me what it was and what they had to do. Also added that it would cost $4o to do the paper readings. He also is the one that stated it should be checked when doing an oil change. But thanks for the info that it's evey 15,000 miles. That's good to know.
