7 point plug and 4 piont plug
 

I need to replace the plugs for the hitch on the Ex any part # for the harness or is there something better to use than Stock. Lights are not all working and you have to constantly wiggle the plug to get them to work.

Disconnect the harness behind the bumper. It is about 15" long. Soak the harness in CLR or Limeaway even Coke will work. After a good soaking rinse well and apply some grease. I have even used axle grease when on the road. THis seals the area better and prevents more corrosion.

If I had to buy another I would probably get it from a self pick wrecking yard. It is too easy to unplug. New I would buy from Tousley here. Funny I cannot find the right part number. I just had mine apart yesterday and all I see are different so be sure to pull yours first and compare to what you buy. Unless corrosion is real bad the soaking and rinse with new grease has worked for me always.

I'll give it a shot but it got damaged when I drove away after dropping a trailer and not dissconnecting the 7piont plug. I think the contacts are bent. I live in the snow belt and am used to replacing these parts. It is usually easier than anything else. I was hoping for a part # to try and order a replacement part. Thanks for the info.

I picked up a generic replacement plug. It was about $10. Like mtnsammy said, there's a connector behind the bumper to take out the plug and a few feet of harness. TIP: take the license plate off. You'll see things much more clearly.

I had to replace my plug about year ago. The PO bent up the harness bracket and shattered the plug so there was nothing I could salvage.

The plug I bought had screw terminals. You cut off the old plug and thread all the wires into the new plug and tighten them down. I disconnected the harness behind the license plate and took the whole thing in the house to make it easier. Worked out great.

If you go this route, be very careful to get the wires back in the right holes on the new socket. I messed up the first time and had every wire off by one. The factory plug has a small twist in the wires. Where they are from the back doesn't exactly line up with the terminals on the front.

Or you could try to find a harness at a junk yard.

Still cannot find the part number but my store just signed up with a trailer supply store. In a few weeks I may have catalogs to search for the harness. Not the best but maybe helpful for later. After market kits at wally world or parts stores are good too if the wires are good. I always wanted to change mine from the sideways mount to the rearward pointing plug found on trucks. If you go with aftermarket remember to use grease to prevent corrosion, like the sprays used on battery terminals.

$115 dollars, yikes. Go and buy a $10 plug and rewire it. 20 minutes of your time.

a little cheaper

The OEM part with bracket is the same thing I got to replace mine. Works perfectly of course, and no worries. My bracket was rusted pretty good, and I was replacing my receiver hitch, so it was a no brainer.

Just always remember to use plenty of dielectric grease on the contacts on all plugs!!!
