240ci Carb Replacement
 

My 65 f-100 has a 240 cubic inch 6 cylinder in it. It is equipped with the Holley 1-barrel carb. I don't remember the exact list number but it's similar to R4536. It was in rough shape when I bought the truck and I rebuilt the carb. When I was assembling the carb I noticed that the top fuel bowl cover was warped and the gasket was not sealing the bowl. The old gasket was much thicker than the one the kit came with and I believe the thicker gasket was allowing it to seal. I stacked a couple gaskets and bought some gasoline safe sealer and was able to get the bowl to seal. This worked great for a couple of months and then started having issues. For a while it would only run with the choke fully closed, then all of the sudden I had to run with no choke and close the air/fuel adjustment screw to get it to idle. I have checked for vacuum leaks and replaced the intake/exhaust gasket in the meantime.

I can rebuild the carb again but with the issues on the fuel bowl and such I would rather find a good core to rebuild or a reman carb to replace it. The problem is that I don't see this Holley in either of those options. The only carb I can find as a reman or a core is the Ford model such as #C3TF-A. Will this carb directly replace my Holley of will the swap be cumbersome with fitment issues?

I have a 62 F100 with a 223 inline 6, with a Holley 1 barrel. I was having trouble and just swapped it out with a remanufactured one from Auto Zone. Cheaper than having it rebuilt, and it bolted right up and only needed to adjust the idle. Of course had to hook up the choke as instructed in the manual. PLUS, it comes with a one year warranty.

So you swapped it out with the Ford carb? Or could you find a remanned Holley?

I swapped it with a re manufactured carb. The exact Holley carb that was the original equipment on the truck.

I can't find a remanned Holley carb for my application is the problem. That's why I'm looking to see if the Ford carb will swap.

According to AutoZone, you truck should have a Motorcraft equipped Carburetor #1101A. Here is the link found in AutoZone. Take a look and see if this looks like your carb.

No that's the Ford carb. I don't disagree that that's the replacement carb that they offer. But the Holley was also a optional factory carb. If you look in the carb kits offered for that year they have both the Ford carb and a kit for the Holley. If anyone has a source for a remanned Holley for my application I'd love to know where.
