1964 Mirrors mount
I know there is a side mirror thread on top but I had a quick and I'm 100% sure it's pretty dumb question.. Okay so my 1964 had some huge door mirrors. They would clamp down on three separate sections on the door and you'll screw them in. There was no holes on the door, they just tighten up the bolt so it latches onto the door. So, my question is, which one of the mirrors were the original; the three armed ones or a little tiny ones that latch on. Another thing that there is a little rectangle block where the mirrors used to be? I tried taking if off but no luck. I'm afraid I'll break it. I already chipped the passenger side. I don't want to break them because I'll just have this rectangle hole there. Here is a picture.
Again, sorry about the dumb questions. This is my first truck and I'd like to restore it to it's former glory. I know parts may be hard to find but that's why I ask a little too many questions. Thanks for the help. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...929_181719.jpg |
Not a dumb question, but all the answers are in that "Read First" thread on side mirrors!

See post 22 in "side mirror" sticky on page 1 in this forum.
There were three types of mirrors that fit into the door slots, once the plugs were removed. Not shown in post 22 is the chrome mirror w/5" round mirror head that fit into the slot. Since all outside mirrors were optional and only dealer installed, people would go to autoparts stores, junkyards, find something they liked and install them. |
Since your truck was repainted, you might have bondo in some original or aftermarket mirror hole locations. You won't know really know till it stripped down to bare metal.
