Fenderwell bushings

OK guys I tried a little due diligence in the forum to see if this has been discussed, but it either hasn't or my search terms were bad.

When I tore down my '57, the inner fenderwells have a bushing at the bottom where the fenderwell mounts to the cab, one on each. Mine are really dried out and hard, and I don't see where anyone is re-popping them. Has anyone substituted a different part or had any other creative solution?

Soak 'em in hot water, this will make them more pliable, easier to re-install. Re-using the originals is what you're faced with, unless you make your own.

FoMoCo referred to these bushings as "straps" aka "anti-squeaks" were installed where two or more pieces of sheet metal could rub together.

Look at 16A054 in pic, is this what you're asking for? If so: Strap - Front Fender Apron to Dash Panel - Improvise from tire carcass (!).

I made mine out of pieces of mudflaps

I made mine from wide black belting that I found at a farm supply store.

Well there is a rubber-ish welting that runs vertically along the back of the fenderwell where it meets up against the cab, and that's probably for the squeeking.

But for my money, 16A054 in the drawing looks more like the bracket that mounts to the cab that holds the bushing to which I am referring. Here are my parts laid out:

And here is a closeup of the bushing in the fenderwell:

Its kind of a rubber doughnut with a metal sleeve through the middle. The bolt that holds it to the cab bracket has a large "toothed" washer that when tightened, seems to expand the doughnut and anchor the back of the fenderwell.

Ya know what I mean?

That's a new one for me but what do I know. Thanks for the pics, saves tons of confusion. You could still make your own out of thick tough rubber.
