1975 Restomod HighBoy

Felt fitting to create a build thread for the RestoMod I plan on doing on my 1975 Highboy. Bought the truck about 50 miles out of town for $1200 and drove it home that night.
Heres how it sat the night I picked it up.

Had to relive old memories and go get her a little dirty.

Memorial Day came around so I mounted my American Flag in the back. Got some flack from the neighbor but its still flying loud and proud. Brackets just broke the other day so I will need to get a weld in replacement

Found a factory bumper at the salvage yard in great shape and picked it up for $50. Sold the Smittybuilt with the lights. Still looking for my front plate...

Here's how it sits today. Saving for a 4" lift on 40's this winter so I will be posting pics of that. Also plan on painting the frame this winter.

SWEET!! Are you going to do any engine mods?

AndrewZimmermann 10-05-2013 07:05 PM

Yeah I always shoot for the stars so I plan on an EFI 460 bored and stroked to around a 514 then boost or spray it haha really going for a sleeper here but thatll probably be the last thing I do. I do have to put on the Hooker Headers it came with and run a full exhaust cause the one on it is pretty bad. Its got several leaks so thatll be one of the things I do.

Nice truck! Ill be watching you on this one.:-X22

Thanks man. I'll do my best to impress most certainly!

Got bored yesterday and decided to switch things up a little bit. So I sprayed my wheels black. It doesn't look too bad but up close the rims were real pitted and I could only sand it down so much.

Work in progress

Ha yeah I love it. Don't see many highboys around anymore but now that I drive one they catch my eye a little more. I love em. Thanks

Rims look good. It is nice how a little paint on something can make it feel like something brand new!

AndrewZimmermann 10-10-2013 07:34 PM

Thanks. Yeah it makes the truck look alot different, it's incredible

Depends on where you live! In the Pacific Northwest, we still have quite a few of them. I own two, and i owned two previously.......They are fun to drive

Yeah, theyre amazing. Not much about them I don't like. Just trying to find a front Dana 60 right now is one of those things I don't like...

that truck was a steal at $1200. good job. There aren't any of those trucks like that around here for sale that are drivable for that price. Def my dream to get me one someday, when I have enough space to park it.

AndrewZimmermann 12-06-2013 12:25 PM

Yeah it was a great price, especially with how well it's been handling the negative degree temperatures. Starts a little rough in this cold of weather but it comes right around and runs pretty normal after a minute or two.

I've been researching the 78/79 Dana 60 swap and was wondering if anyone knows if an early 80's Dana 60 would also work or if those are different dimensions. If anyone else has any suggestions on where to find one, that would also be much appreciated.
