Exhaust on Ecoboost

Has anybody put an aftermarket exhaust on a Ecoboost? If so, does it sound ok?

Every one that I've heard on u-tube and in person still sounds like a V-6. Not much joy in that.

I think the "drone" would get old and drive me nuts when towing.

I read on the Full Race website that there is significant post-turbine pressure in the stock exhaust, and that has made me think about putting a more free-flowing exhaust on the truck in an attempt to squeak out some better fuel economy.

But this thing sounds like a pissed off vacuum cleaner on a good day, and I just couldn't imagine making that louder. I really like my engine and the power that it makes, but this is definitely a powerplant that needs to remain muzzled.

I agree! Just curious if anybody has found anything.

Im hoping to put a down pipe on mine and use the stock muffler system. Hopefully gaining a lot of flow while still maintaining a realitivly quite truck.

I guy in town here had duals on his Eco, sounded like a twin turbo supra.

Pool Runner 09-26-2013 10:06 AM

That's the first EcoBoost exhaust that is tolerable, would look good as a dual system too.

There's a guy about a block down the street from me, has a Heartthrob on an Screw EB. I've passed his truck a hundred times and never heard him leave.

I may just have to knock on his door and ask if I can hear it, but that may not go down very well as I don't actually know this guy.

I kind of like the big diesel looking raw pipe exit. If it sounded good on the Eco, I'm wondering what it might sound like bolted up to my 5L.

Hey Pool Runner, my buddy put one on his 5.0 and he said the drone on the highway was horrible until he put on a resonantor and now it's still present but not as annoying.

Good to know, perhaps they tuned it at V6 frequencies , which are typically higher as opposed to deeper throaty V8 notes??
