429 Help...
I am looking for a 429 for a 1994 F700. 1)Does anyone know if these are different than the motors found in non-heavy duty trucks?
If so, can anyone help me locate a crate or rebuilt 429 for this truck? Thanks. |
Your prior post has a source:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ne-source.html 429s were never used in light duty trucks other than the Ranchero. The 429 in mediums like yours is different from that engine, and different from the PU/car 460s, making a direct swap impractical. "Different" as in crank snout, mounting, accessory drives, bell, clutch, pilot hole in crank, along with the heads, intake, exhaust etc. |
It can be done but not recomended. The 429 for trucks used a steel crank I believe as compared to a cast crank. They had calcium I believe in the heads also. One thing though is what will you be using the truck for?
