Put the 6.2 to the test today
 

We are in Flaming Gorge Rec Area and we came down US 191 out of Rock Springs WY. In places I'm sure it was over 9000 ft, if Ford would show elevation in their over priced nav system I would know for sure. It was full of 6 to 9 % grades with no way to gain any speed before going up them and it gave the truck a workout. It did a good job with only having to go to 2nd a couple of times and the rest of the time it was 3rd and 4th, sure do like the manual mode. Going down using manual I had to use the brakes a few times but nothing to worry about. I'm at or a little above (maybe 800 lbs) the 5th wheel towing rating for this truck (15600) so I'm very happy with its performance so far and with just under 4K it's not even broken in yet.

HaHaHa. That's awesome RVPULLER! 191 South is a twisty, winding narrow of a road in some spots especially as it wraps around Little Mtn. just north of the Utah state line. I bet you had a good pull once you crossed Flaming Gorge dam. That is a beautiful area with the juniper and pine intermixed in all the red rock. BTW, if your into flyfishing, the Green below the dam has some of the largest and most trout per mile of river anywhere in the west. Have a great trip!

Thanks for checkin in from the road Denny. Good to know the trucks workin for ya. I'll be pullin over the Rockies from the west next spring and while my trailer isn't as heavy as yours, it's good to hear the reports.

I'm glad we took 191 because it tested everything on one stretch of road, coming up Laramie pass and west on 80 was a none event. I got down to 45 a couple of times but that was operator error, rain and traffic, getting used the best time to downshift has been a learning experience but I'm getting better at it.

Tried that and I get my location, longitude, latitude and a orange arrow but no altitude. Maybe I have to turn on but I can't find where.

Hmm, I don't think I've ever had to enable anything to get that. I haven't updated sync in probably 2 years either (if there's even been an update)... Here's a glimpse of what mine looks like:

Great news Denny, I am glad that the 6.2L is working out so well. It is making my decision way easier with all of the good reports you are giving, couple questions,Please
1. What avg mileage are you getting?
2. Are you going up to Redline when you are towing up the Hills.

Thanks for that post. I was wondering if there was an elevation in that silly thing or not. I have been using my Garmin and have it set to show the elevation. So I now know where it is at in the onboard also.

We are outside of Spring Creek NV boondocking on our friends property until next Monday. On our way across the salt flats we ran into some heavy winds and the mileage went down to 6.8 but after the winds died down it did go back to 8, that may sound low but this part of the country has lots of grades an high elevations. I did get 99.9 for a short time by resetting in instant mpg going down hill. We will be traveling with a Duromax pulling the same class of trailer so that should be interesting.
