Battery Cables ?
Hello folks, this is probably simple, but I'm sure I'm over thinking it. On my 1993 Bronco I'm looking to replace my battery cables and looking at it I cant seem to figure out if I have to find some that look exactly like them or just buy some like what is on my '79. This is a completely stock Bronco so it has the positive cable that is totally new to me. I've searched on here to see what others might have done, but didn't find what I was looking for. Any help is appreciated.
Edit: I've looked into it further and found that both the pos. to switch and switch to starter run through the positive battery post. My question is do I have to buy a positive cable that is routed the same way or route them the tradition way, ie pos. to switch and then switch to starter? |
I read it five times and I am not clear about your question.
Try this...Red Battery pos. to starter solenoid on the fender. Red Pos from other side of starter solenoid to starter. Black Battery Neg (with pigtail going to fender ground) to frame to somewhere...I have never noticed where. |

I'm sorry, not enough coffee I guess. I just don't understand. Maybe someone will jump in here soon.... |
you can run a line from starter to battery and then another cable over to solenoid on fender. This is more or less what i plan to do on mine since the cable end on mine is shot. you can take the loom apart to see better how the cables are ran.
at one point someone over on FSB found a new replacment cable that is same as stock, they picked it up thru RockAuto. I have been unable to locate it myself due to lack of pictures of their products. If you do go about this take this time to upgrade your charge cable as well. |
Here is a photo of the OEM positive cable assembly that I'm trying to replace. These cables according to my local ford dealer are obsolete so I've been trying parts stores find a "replacement" for it...the parts stores seem to think I'm smoking something funny...

We have a company locally that makes new cables to your specs and needs. They arent very much more expensive than a generic off the shelf cable. Might be worth looking into seeing if you can do the same local.
