Garage Art

I wanted to post up pictures of how I recycled my steering wheel (and a few bottles). But I also wanted to open a thread for others who made decorations for their garages. So, here goes:

They're LED Christmas lights that I bought off of Ebay (but I suspect stores are already stocking lights). I bought the LED's for longer life and to avert any heat issues. If I remember correctly, I bought two 50 bulb strings. I then had to take the strings apart. Since there were three wires (apparently, the third wire is to keep them all lit should one burn out) and halfway through they appear to switch polarity, it became a bit confusing. The main thing is, LED's are directional; on a filament bulb, it will light up if you switch the polarity, not so on LED's. So, if you have even one bulb turned 180 degrees to the flow of electricity, it will shut down the whole set. The other thing is, apparently, the 50 bulbs split the 110 volts fairly evenly, so each bulb is pulling about 2 volts. If you take too many out, you might exceed their limits (not sure what happens then). Don't buy strings with white wires as the wires and sockets will show through the bottles. Mine had green wires and sockets. The bottles were from Bud Light Platinum.

Here are some shots of my garage art, most of them the original parts of my 54 F-100:
the original grille with lights in the parking lights. notice the swiss cheese rust...

The original tailgate and Ford hood emblem and F100 emblem

another wall filled with copies of a 54 Ford dealer catalog and the original steering wheel, hubcap, V-8 grille emblem and the very worn brake and clutch pedal pads, along with my Dad's vintage Craftsman box wrench set:

Wow, that beats my tailgate with the Soccer bumper stickers on it! Although I can say that my tailgate had my Grandfather's hands on it over the years.
