Donaldson muffler on a 6.0

I was thinking of putting a muffler on my truck. It came with a straight pipe new exhaust when I bought it about a year ago. It is a 4" down to a 5" the rest of the way and out the back. It is just too loud for me. So I can buy a whole new 4" exhaust with muffler, or I can put a 5" muffler on what I have.
Not many options in a 5" muffler. The Donaldson is really made for a big rig, but I was thinking it may work on my 6.0. I was thinking the M100580.

What do you guys think?

I have been playing around with this. I did a muffler and cat delete last year and the "Jet" engine sound has really been getting on my nerves, so today I reinstalled the cat and it quieted the exhaust down a lot.

Not sure that's a valid option with your 5" exhaust though.

Try a donaldson m100463, flows as much as a straight pipe but will be fairly quiet.

Thanks Josh

I was wondering if anyone else thought the jet engine sound was loud. I could not hear my Chevy half ton running next to the Ford, and it was only idling.

It gets real loud at about 2k RPM under load. Kinda cool, but gets on my nerves after about 30 minutes.

Next problem is clearance, not sure how tight it will be.

After looking at it again, I could get on the 4 inch section pretty easy. This gives more muffler options. Any suggestions?

The jet sound doesn't bother me too much... But I rented out my house and moved to an older neighborhood in the city and I know it drives my neighbors nuts in the morning starting the truck and making my way down the street.

So, basically my conscience is coming out. Re-installing the cat made the exhaust a lot quieter but almost too quiet.

Update: It fits

Well it does fit, but it was a squeeze. I had to do a lot of pushing, pulling, trial and error. I have it all the way up to the crossmember. I used stepped band clamps and they worked great.

It is definitely not loud now. With the straight pipe it would drone real bad at low rpm. It also got real loud when it hit 2k rpm, kinda like a race motor. I still have a slight drone at low rpm, but the high rpm noise is gone. I can rev it out and get all power and no noise.

I went with the Donaldson M100463.

No problem.

I don't think this is the best choice for exhaust options, but considering what I already had on the truck, in my case it may be.

The only problem I see so far is the front of the muffler hangs a little low, and where it ended up is right in the middle of the truck. It's very vulnerable to getting ripped off the truck in off road situations. Other then that I am pleased.

MBRP makes a 5 inch muffler. Got one on my truck with no cat. Not load at all.
