302 true dual exhaust

i made a post a while back about putting some true duals on my 302 but i'm more serious about it now and need advice. i want it to be as loud as possible, as cheap as possible and i want fuel efficiency and hp gains if possible. should i just run pipe from my headers through glasspacks with no cats or what would you run?

Hell just cut all the exhaust off & just run off the manifolds if you want it loud & cheap.

shorty headers, homemade y pipe/cross over pipe, no cats, to 2.5 true duals, with dynomax race bullets, with 4 rolled tips at a 45* out the back.... my setup with out the headers and race bullets

It was all good up until that last line, if you put some big honkin dual pipes on this little wheezer(no I didn't misspell that) you'll lose all low rpm torque and the fuel milage with it.

seriously??? someone once told me i'd gain if anything, i thought the less restriction would make more power

What type of headers do you currently have? If you want maximum volume, just bolt some turndowns to the collectors if your have full lengths.

Yes it'll make more peak HP but... fuel milage is obtained at lower rpms and a smaller exhaust system will create higher exhaust flow velocities at those rpms which equals higher torque which equals higher fuel milage.

i have stock headers, i don't really want to get different headers yet

1992FordF150Custom 08-03-2013 10:46 PM

would you say some thush glasspacks would sound good?

I don't know how much more thrush would be but I have a cherry bomb glass pack on mine.
Here's the video

There are no stock headers all these truck came with cast iron manifolds.

sounds pretty good 90F150, i can get thrush glasspacks for about $50 canadian, would a shorter glasspack be louder?

A shorter one would be louder. Mines a single I assume a true dual will sound twice as good
