Towing 14K with 6.2

Hi there, I have a 35ft Toyhauler that Max GVW is 14K, does anyone with the 6.2L tow anything this big, and how does it do. Also what are your mpg,s, I am seriously looking at the 6.2 and with the 4.30's for my tow vehicle, not totally set on the 6.7l. Any comments or advise would be appreciated. I have a 99 F-350 with the 2V V10 with 5 star tune,CAI and Flowmaster 50 mufflerit does OK but could use more power on the hills.

Thanks
John

That is alot of weight to be towing. Diesel will be the better bet in this case. Check out your local DMV laws when it comes to registration and or operation of the vehicle. Take a look at the towing guides, then take it from there.

Good Luck with your research.

This is what I'm pulling https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...his-thing.html, the 6.2 may not be for everyone pulling a heavy load but form the F250 with 4.30 gears on up are rated to pull over 14K 5th wheels. I'm also doing it with a DRW so I have 17" wheels over the standard 18" on the SRW so I have a little better final to the pavement gearing. I came form a 2000 F350 DRW 2V V10 that has more HP and torque than your 99 V10 and so far I'm happy with the way it hands my load.

I tow a similar toy hauler with a '08 V10. It gets the job done, but if I was pulling more often, I would have a diesel again.

I towed somewhere around 14k with my truck last weekend and it did just fine. Now, I didn't go only a few miles taking my tractor on a tri-axle equipment trailer to my hunting property, but there are 4 big hills to climb and it wasn't a problem at all. ( I've got 3.73 gears)

14k toy I'd go with the diesel. I haul 14k (fully loaded dump trailer) with my 6.2, and it handles it well, but it's not over distance and doesn't catch near as much wind. If you only do it a couple times a year, maybe the 6.2. Any more, go with the diesel.
